Drukwangyel Festival-Dochula Tshechu December 13th, 2012.
The Dochula Tshechu was begun by the present Queen Mother of Bhutan Gyalyum Dorji Wangmo Wangchuck in December 2011. This is a unique and most inspiring
festival performed by soldiers of the Royal Bhutan Army and not monks.
The soldiers have been trained in folk and masked dances and the festivities
take place in a clearing in the forest behind the Druk Wangyal Lhakhang in
Dochula. It is truly a breathtaking experience in spite of the cold December air
that celebrates the victory of our military of foreign insurgents in 2003.
Thefestival starts at 9 am and ends at 4:15 pm.Read more..
